National Audience Producer

McClatchy is seeking a creative, organized and audience-focused producer to help execute our company-wide initiatives to reach new readers.

You will work closely with editors and audience growth teams in our key local markets to help reach and engage with readers around new content verticals and experiences. The Audience Producer will optimize and distribute content across platforms, including McClatchy’s newsletters, as well as both paid and organic social campaigns.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of how to best reach readers interested in lifestyle topics, such as travel, entertainment and food. This role is new for McClatchy, and requires a desire to experiment, iterate and quickly adjust as the environment dictates. Proven experience building and cultivating audiences is a must.

We are headquartered in Sacramento, CA, however, the Audience Producer is part of a fully remote Content Strategy team and can be located in any US location. The position reports to the Senior News Content Strategist.

Key Tasks Include:

• Distribute our national content via newsletters, social media and other digital platforms. This role will be equal parts strategy and execution;
• Leverage various audience platforms to reach the right audience at the right time;
• Closely coordinating with McClatchy’s audience growth teams in local newsrooms to identify and execute on shared opportunities to reach new audiences;
• Taking a data-driven approach to experiments with new platforms and audience initiatives, plus sharing out key results.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of digital strategy experience, preferably in media
• Candidates must have strong writing, editing and visuals skills
• Experience leading strategy across a variety of storytelling approaches, including newsletters, as well as paid and organic social media campaigns
• A way with headlines and an understanding of what approaches work on different platforms
• Interest in product and project management is a plus
• Dedication to experimentation informed by analytics
• Strong collaborative instincts and a love of teamwork
