Panum is seeking a National Agriculture Library (NAL) Professional Librarian to support the Customer Service Unit (CSU) with its professional librarian services to a wide range of national and international customers, including USDA personnel, scientists, educators, policymakers, public officials, industry representatives, farmers, and the general public. Additionally the professional librarian will support the management of a range of collections, web sites, systems, and information products to serve customer research and information needs as well as support for and improvement of the delivery of reference and research support services.

The tasks and deliverables described below involve professional librarian education and experience (MLS or MLIS required), and highly specialized library applications, services, and information products.

Roles and Responsibilities*

• Support digital collection migration and curation of content in support of NAL’s digital collections
• Monitor reference request queue and provide reference and research support for complex information requests. Support updates to reference knowledge base.
• Support NAL’s evidence review service, including USDA and ARS research priorities
• Provide research support in planning for NAL quarterly events through location of current and historical files
• Support enhancements to online resources on Agricola for NAL’s target audiences, including citation guidance
• Develop online newsletters on NAL’s DigiTop service and its resources.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new Library Services Platform (Ex Libris Alma/Primo) and other information products as needed

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum academic requirement is a Master in Library Science (MLS or MLIS)
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in professional librarian services to include supporting evidence reviews, including systematic and rapid reviews, archives and:
• o Demonstrated expertise with a range technical proficiencies including development of online newsletters
• o Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new Library Services Platform (Ex Libris Alma/Primo) and other information products, website updates and content management.
• o Knowledge and experience with library bibliographic records, the ability to interpret MARC records, and metadata.
• o Experience supporting research and library functions in the topic areas of agriculture, food, nutrition, etc.
• Applicants should also have strong knowledge of study design and research principles, experience in conducting research on topics related to nutrition and public health, in critically evaluating evidence-based nutrition/health literature, or developing science-based nutrition related policy, program guidance or clinical practice guidelines
• Applicants should have experience in coordinating multiple complex tasks, managing research projects, and facilitating expert groups
• Candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills and should be able to work both collaboratively and independently within a research team conducting research and producing reports
• Experience with review management software, such as Covidence or Distiller SR is highly desired.
• Experience with citation management software, such as Endnote or Zotero is highly desired.
• Excellent oral, written and overall communications skills.
