Job description

The Mortgage Underwriter's primary role is to evaluate the
creditworthiness of all borrowers and the collateral in accordance with
established policies and procedures of
residential first mortgage applications while insuring compliance with
Federal, State regulations and Investor guidelines.

Requirements
This position requires an Associates Degree or equivalent work experience as well as a minimum 3 years of first mortgage underwriting experience. Must have strong knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines and DU/AUS and knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to the mortgage banking industry (i.e. RESPA, TILA, ECOA, QM, ATR, etc.) along with a thorough grasp of underwriting policies and procedures, including agency and investor guidelines and regulatory updates Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written form including, but not limited to, Loan Policy and Mortgage Procedures Manual, Reg Z, the FCRA and Mortgage Lending regulations. Must also have excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills, in addition to strong organization and time management skills. This position requires Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008.This
