Middle School Math Teacher
Beginning August 24, 2023

Position: Middle School Mathematics Teacher
Reports to: Middle School Division Head and Mathematics Department Chairperson
FLSA: Exempt, full-time
Salary Range: $62,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience

Summary: Convent of the Sacred Heart, 91st Street, is seeking a thoughtful and experienced candidate with a minimum of three-years experience teaching mathematics at the middle school level, including Algebra I. We are also seeking a candidate that is comfortable with Singapore Math and technological skills such as coding and the Maker curriculum.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional mathematics instruction to students in grades 5-8, including one section of Algebra I. Full time faculty teach 4 courses.
  • Provide academic support for students outside of class time by answering homework questions and consulting with them as needed.
  • Facilitate integrating instructional technology into the math curriculum and middle school curriculum.
  • Attend department and faculty meetings.
  • Fulfill homeroom and advisory duties.
  • Communicate regularly with families through email, phone, and conferences.
  • Support students and division by covering study halls, emergency coverage, lunch duties and other assignments as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics
  • Master's degree in Mathematics or Education highly preferred
  • Previous teaching experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching Singapore Math is an asset
  • Proficiency and adaptability with instructional technology
  • Collaborate with members of the math department to share best practices, plan active lessons, and create instructional aids
  • Open to a problem solving approach to teaching mathematics.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to the school's mission, anti-racist, anti-bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy
  • Proficient with current educational technology, especially blended learning platforms and strategies
  • Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school
