What You Will Do:

1. Applies coats of paint, varnish, stains, enamels or lacquers, using brushes, rollers, or spray gun to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces. 2. Smooth surfaces using sandpaper, wire brushes, steel wool to prepare surfaces for painting or repair. 3. Removes old paint from surfaces using paint removers, scrapers or torches to prepare surfaces for painting or repair. 4. Fills holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other fillers to prepare surfaces for painting or repairs. 5. Installs wall and corner protectors on walls to maintain or improve physical condition of the facility. 6. Selects pre-mixed paints or blends and mixes pigment oil, thinning and/or drying materials to match selected specified colors. 7. Installs cove base, tile and wall covering as required to maintain or repair the appearance and physical condition of the facility. 8. Replaces sheet rock and re-builds walls and doorways as required to maintain or repair the appearance and physical condition of the facility. 9. Estimates and maintains materials for painting or repairs and prepares requisitions to ensure adequate materials to complete tasks.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Minimum 5 years documented painting experience or completion of a painting apprenticeship program.
