MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST, WELL VERSED IN ART / MUSIC INTERVENTIONS

(PART TIME ~ 20 hours weekly)

Job Functions:

  • Provide creative art and music group therapy, psychotherapy, and individual counseling.
  • Engage and develop rapport with patients to foster and promote the individual’s commitment to engage in a therapeutic relationship and attend therapy regularly.
  • Encourage an environment that fosters and enhances creativity, socialization, and promotes physical and mental health.
  • Conduct goal-oriented structured therapeutic sessions that utilize creative art techniques and principles for patients, with eating disorders, in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) setting.
  • Recognize, address and utilize therapeutic creative arts interventions to facilitate mastery, coping skills, and creative expression for adolescents (age 16 and above) and adults who are struggling with eating disorders, and often have co-morbid symptoms related to other mental health struggles (i.e., depression, anxiety, trauma).
  • Provide, implement, and coordinate comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments and treatment plan for new intake clients and then ongoing for clients on small caseload (3-5 patients).
  • Collaborate with client, collaterals, and their multi-disciplinary clinical treatment team (i.e. psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, foster care team, care management, care coordination, etc.) in developing, reviewing and modifying the treatment plan in accordance with the patient’s current needs.
  • Maintain electronic records and documentation according to the standards and timeframes established by state regulations, Medicaid regulations, and Kahm Center policies and procedures.
  • Coordination of discharge planning process. Identify the resources and supports needed for transition to another program and make necessary referrals, linkages for treatment, providers, and other applicable support services.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and supervision.
  • Maintain professional behaviors and ethical standards as established by the board of mental health. Uphold the privacy of patient, client or protected member health information in accordance with HIPPA.
  • Masters level clinician preferred.
  • Eating disorder experience preferred.

This position is part time to start, but we expect it to morph into a full time position if you are good and capable of managing a case load.
