Mental Health Therapist, Child and Family
Job description
IMPORTANT NOTE TO APPLICANTS: Please read entire post, most notably that this is a CHILD AND FAMILY position for someone holding clinical or subclinical masters certification. Also, you MUST submit a cover letter responding to the questions described toward the end of this posting about job/applicant fit. We will not respond to applicants who do not appear to have read the posting because that suggests an Indeed SPAMBOT is at work.
DESCRIPTION: We have a post-masters training and supervision opportunity for a KANSAS LPC, LMSW, or LMLP or a clinical position for an LCPC, LSCSW, or LCP. This is a full time position in the largest mental health practice in Douglas County. We base our practice model on three pillars: financial viability, ethical integrity/risk management, and clinical efficacy. While we serve a broad age range, this position is only for a therapist interested in or with training and experience working with children five to twelve years of age. Applicant may have play therapy training or experience but must also approach cases from a family systems perspective or be willing to learn to do so. We are only interested in candidates who want to be in long-term employment and who work well as part of a close, supportive, challenging team model. We promote a positive, drama-free environment and expect all new employees to share and enact that value.
NATURE OF EMPLOYMENT: This is NOT a 1099 contractor position. You will be W-2 employee with all resources provided. You will start on a transitional stipend and move quickly to a commission basis. Associates here make $60,000 to $77,000. Senior associates makes up to $100,000 a year.
LMSWs, LPCs, LMLPs: You will build a caseload of up to 30 clients a week and will engage in extensive training and supervision toward full clinical licensure. You must be credentialed with KanCare MCOs and BCBS of Kansas before beginning, though we will provide all the logistics for that process.
LSCSWs, LCPCs, LCPs: You will work with a crack multidisciplinary team with all the benefits of a private practice and few if any of the worries. You will have the opportunity for advanced supervision and training in child and family therapy from our staff including Dr. Crenshaw who has trained over 35 years with some of the masters of psychotherapy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred candidates will:
* Live in or near the Lawrence area or plan to relocate. We've not had good luck with commuters beyond the farthest west edges of WYCO or JOCO or eastern SN County.
* Be highly interested in the target population of children and either have or be willing attain training specific to their needs. You will also have a chance to see college aged adults and couples, but a primary interest must be in working with kids.
* Recognize the importance of evening availability to cover school age children and their family's schedules. This is not a second shift job but until one gets started, evening availability is a critical offering to new clients.
THE PRACTICE: We have nine clinical staff on site in Lawrence Kansas including one DNP to provide medication management and another coming on in January. We specialize in children, teens, adults, families, couples, and college students. We work with ADHD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, divorce & custody, trauma recovery, relational and sex therapy and have a broad practice over twenty years with LGBTQ+ clients. We have excellent market exposure via frequent TV and radio appearances in Kansas City and Lawrence and thus, a strong referral base. We average about 22 intake requests a week. During our busy seasons that rises to nearly 32 per week. We also publish books with our staff.
WHAT TO SUBMIT: Please submit a resume AND A COVER LETTER detailing your interest in this position -- not a generic document. This can be text only; in an email; however you want to send it, but we need to know that you are actually applying to THIS position. We advise adding your credentials after your last name or making them very obvious. Indeed doesn't make that easy. We respond quickly, but the interview process takes several steps and due to work shortages at BCBS and other carriers, credentialling is taking longer than anyone would like. However, the wait will be worth it.
