Mental Health Outreach Specialist for the S.T.A.R. team of Clackamas County

HYBRID REMOTE POSITION (subject to change)

Job Duties

  • Screen new referrals for mental health needs and provide assessment, referral and/or liaison with child welfare, on an as-needed basis.
  • Work at Child Welfare offices in North Clackamas and/ or Oregon City, spending a minimum of 3 days in office at 2hrs per day. These requirements are subject to change at any time.
  • Work in the field, with all appropriate protective measures, providing direct client services when remote work is not possible/ effective.
  • Keep highly-detailed (court-worthy) documentation and submit reports and billing in a timely manner. Applicant must have strong typing skills, good grammar and writing skills and comfortable with using and learning to use a variety of software and web-based applications.
  • Consult with case workers, probation officers, treatment agencies, jail staff, court staff and family or mental health providers to provide excellent care coordination.
  • Effectively utilize cell phone and laptop for remote work and meetings.
  • Keep up on any and all requirements of QMHP certification, including application to obtain certification if appropriate.
  • Attend regular supervision and staffings.
  • Structure and organize independent work effectively while also able to work as a team in a variety of capacities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Must be QMHP with understanding NWFS will assist with costs to certify and education requirements.
  • Experience with behavioral health assessments and be able to link client with appropriate care options; manage obstacles to successful enrollment.
  • Able to apply appropriate privacy and ethical considerations to all client interactions while also considering the demands of coordinating with child welfare system.
  • Able to build and maintain rapport with adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Reliable vehicle and willingness to commute a minimum of 3 days per week. (subject to change) Trips to other locations around Clackamas county may also be required for meeting with clients. NWFS does reimburse gasoline cost for client meeting travel, though not for commute.

Preferred

  • Experience with child welfare system, family drug court or drug court system.
  • Comfort with high-volume of detailed note-taking and report making.
  • 2 years working in mental health related field.
