Position Overview

The Member of Technical Staff is responsible for supporting design activities in the realization of next generation circuit modules for SubCom Terminal Equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualization of circuit pack architectures with optical subcomponents
• Design and test analog (audio and video bandwidth) and digital circuits
• Generate Electrical Schematics with OrCad
• Design and simulate modulation and filter circuits as well as control loops, power, ground, and bus circuits with RS-232, SPI, I2C, Ethernet devices
• Work with experienced EE designers and CAD engineers to achieve low noise PWB layouts
• Select and locate state of the art circuit components
• Interact with key component suppliers
• Realize and test prototype circuits using optical/electrical measurement equipment
• Lead/participate in peer reviews for design concepts
• Participate in hardware and firmware requirements definition and review
• Define requirements for firmware-based features
• Develop and execute Design Verification Test Plans
• Evaluate and troubleshoot firmware functionality
• Develop and execute Environmental Test Plans at nearby Certification Test Centers
• Introduce new circuit packs into manufacture
• Develop and document complete manufacturing test procedures for electro/optical circuit assemblies

Qualifications

• MS EE or Physics with 3+ years experience in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, desired.
• Familiarity with product realization processes for circuit board assemblies and experience with: Orcad; PSPICE, Labview; digital control techniques; commercial circuit components – including selection of opamps, DAC/ADCs, DC/DC converters, logic devices, etc.; DC powering; low-speed and low noise control techniques.
• Familiarity with the following is considered a plus : DSPs, FPGAs, MATLAB, optical communications, communications standards, environmental standards related to hardware development and qualification.
