CDR Health Care Inc. is seeking individuals who are interested in working as a Medical Technologist. This position will be responsible for performing complex laboratory procedures in a high complexity molecular laboratory.

A successful candidate will assist with basic lab duties including preparation of solutions, DNA/RNA extraction, disposal of hazardous wastes using safety procedures, maintaining SDS, maintaining chemical, reagent, and supply inventory. The incumbent will work closely with lab members and collaborators in completing experiments and with keeping up-to-date records.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for following a Quality Control program in compliance with CLIA and CAP standards. Review and ensure compliance with the QC Program.
• Perform duties of licensed Medical Technologist as required.
• Assume responsibility for the department/section/shift in the absence of the supervisor.
• Reviews sample packages and test requisitions for accuracy and completeness. Submits requisitions after review.
• Ensures lab results are properly, completely, and efficiently recorded/reported.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance of all equipment; troubleshoots and solves problems as necessary.
• Reviews records such as daily logs, quality control, and inventory.
• Makes sure all records are kept up to date and ensures that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
• With the General Supervisor, resolves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken, and the test system is functioning properly.
• Follows all OSHA, CLIA and State regulations.
• Recognizes and reports critical values within specified timeframes to appropriate patient care personnel as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Participates in department QM/QA/QC processes overseen by Medical Director.
• Demonstrates and ensures proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) indication and use.
• Reviews instrumentation, processes, reagents, and storage to ensure compliance daily.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform laboratory techniques and use laboratory instruments.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and adheres to HIPPA guidelines.
• Able to work cooperatively and constructively with physicians, patients, families, and co-workers.
• Professionally communicates with customers on a regular basis.
Complies with accrediting agencies (FDA, CAP, CLIA) standards and regulations.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Physical, Biological Sciences, or Associate degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Must be licensed as a Medical Technologist in the State of Florida with Molecular Specialty.
• Maintain active and in good standing in licensure throughout employment.
• Minimum 2 years clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience with all processes in molecular diagnostics including pipetting, DNA/RNA extraction, and PCR/qPCR on CDR platforms.
