Position Purpose

Assist with and support the credentialing and privileging of providers for Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals (AHP) of KHI.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct, participate in, and maintain records for the credentialing and privileging for all KHI providers. To include all processes to help achieve and maintain accreditation and regulatory compliance. b. Analyze applications and supporting documents for completeness and discrepancies, then communicates status with provider, including the need for additional information to maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. c. Obtain and evaluate provider sanctions, complaints and adverse data. d. Manage initial and reappointment scheduling to ensure timelines and expiration dates are met. e. Assigns and tracks completion of all competency training for all providers. f. Maintains working knowledge of Bylaws, accreditation standards and policy/procedure to ensure compliance. g. Serves as a resource to, and collaborates with, providers and other staff to advance the quality of providers and patient safety to the facility. h. Conducts primary source verification of initial and reappointment applications in accordance with Accreditation, Regulatory, and Medical Staff Bylaws. i. Identify issues that require additional investigation and evaluation, validate discrepancies and ensure appropriate follow-up. j. Compile, evaluate, and present provider-specific information for review by the Medical Staff Services (MSS)/Graduate Medical Education (GME) Director, and Medical Staff Committees. k. Supports the MSS/GME Director and assists with coordination of MSS events, including holidays and provider appreciation. l. Facilitates communication between and provides support to Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Director MSS/GME, co-workers, and providers. m. Proficient in use of technology and computer programs to include credentialing software, word processing, spreadsheet applications, Power Point, and use of audiovisual equipment. n. Serves as credentialing content expert in Medical Staff Meetings. o. Maintains strict confidentiality; adhering to all KHI Confidentiality policies and HIPAA guidelines/regulations.


Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

CPCS certification desirable at recruitment. It is required within four years of hire into this position.

Preferences [Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multilingual, master’s degree)] • College degree preferable. • Experience in medical staff functions or comparable activities is desirable. • Medical terminology proficiency is desired

Must be able to access and use computer files, AV equipment and records. • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. • May require periods of walking, travel to physician offices, lifting of objects (credentialing files, etc.), and flexibility/availability to attend early morning and/or late evening meetings.
