ROLE SUMMARY
The Medical Skills and Competencies Development Lead role will be accountable for: the non-therapeutic core curriculum for all Medical Affairs colleagues and simplifying the learning platforms for all Medical Affairs colleagues around the world. The curriculum must meet the ongoing and evolving needs of Medical Affairs colleagues and ensure they have access to the skills development and learning needed to enable our colleagues to operate to their upmost ability and continue to lead the industry. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the curriculum is adopted across all categories and regions and is integrated into the broader learning environment within Pfizer to create a simple and high-quality learning experience. S/he will also be instrumental in developing career paths for Medical Affairs colleagues in collaboration with People Experience through competencies building and professional development.
This is a role within Biopharma, directly reporting into the Chief Medical Affairs Officer for Global Medical Excellence & Innovation (GME&I) and responsible for leading a group of highly skilled practitioners to elevate the planning and execution of medical skills and competencies training at Pfizer. This individual will be a member of the GME&I leadership team.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead strategic direction for medical skills and competencies training at Pfizer by establishing best practices and standards for training the next generation of medical affair colleagues
- Successfully partner with scientific and geographic leaders to ensure efficient development and deployment of relevant trainings and capabilities
- Refine and continuously look for opportunities to improve centralized operational support for learning and development of customer-facing and non-customer facing medical colleagues
- Oversee use and improve of digital training tools to develop, store, and deliver up-to-date training to colleagues appropriate for their learning goals
- Oversee incorporation and transformation of category-specific capabilities by creating modular learning journeys to onboard, train, and re-train Medical Affairs colleagues on a diversity of skills including deep medical knowledge, ability to interpret RWE and clinical data, soft skills (e.g., leadership, communication), business acumen, and strategic thinking capabilities to partner with commercial and R&D on strategy development
- Establish and maintain the highest medical professionalism and scientific excellence by supporting platforms for live training and curriculum-building
- Grow talent by identifying and providing growth opportunities for individuals interested in medical affairs and to empower diagonal moves
- Act as a key enabler in building a strong culture and driving the Global Medical Excellence & Innovation Chief Medical Affairs Officer (GME&I CMAO) innovation agenda
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred
- At least 15 years experience; w/a minimum of 5 years of Medical Affairs experience strongly preferred
- At least 10 years of senior leadership experience in pharmaceutical industry or related industries
- Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare environment; experience in Science-based roles is an advantage
- Experience in learning and development and skills, and competencies and capabilities building
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and mastery of working in a matrix environment
- Must be able to both drive strategy and execute with speed and high quality
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and strategic mindset
- Track record of strong networking and working collaboratively across functions and geographies

For roles based in New York City: The annual base salary for this position ranges from $244,600.00 to $407,800.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs and/or eligibility.
