MEDICAL RECORDS SUPERVISOR
This position supports the Mission, Values and Vision of Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc. (CFHC, Inc.). The Medical Records Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the medical record area and maintains patient information in an organized manner in accordance with established policies and procedures. This is not a remote position.
This position reports directly to the Medical Records and Referral Manager. This position also supervises the Medical Records Associates.
This position offers a 40-hour work week, full benefits package, 12 paid holidays, bi-weekly pay, and no weekends!
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in health information management
- One year experience as a supervisor, or three years working in Health Information Management required
- EHR experience required
- Ability to maintain, review, and analyze medical records
- Must be detail-oriented. Intermediate level computer skills.
License/Certification
RHIT preferred
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides supervision to the Medical Record Associates. This includes providing orientation and training, managing workloads, and monitoring staffs’ performance and productivity.
- Serves as the in-house expert and point of contact regarding in the medical record software systems.
- Troubleshoots system issues or errors.
- Ensures the quality of the health record by verifying their completeness, accuracy and proper entry into the electronic health record system.
- Manages disclosure of PHI following corporate policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations (e.g. release of information, accounting of disclosures).
- Maintains and performs standards for HIM functions (e.g. chart completion, ROI turnaround time, departmental workflow, scanning and indexing, etc.) in a timely and accuracy manner.
- Maintains the integrity of the legal health record.
- Educates internal customers (e.g. clinicians, staff, volunteers, students) on privacy, access, and disclosure.
- Educates external customers (e.g. patients, insurance companies, attorneys) on privacy, access, and disclosure.
- Obtains outside imaging and specialty records to assist in the closure of referrals.
- Has access to summary data with the clear understanding that access and reading is limited to their scope of training and duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Majority of the time spent sitting, occasional bending, stooping, and computer use. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day.
As a Medicaid/Medicare facility, Carolina Family Health Centers must comply with the Federal COVID-19 vaccination mandates. Therefore, as of January 27, 2022, new and existing employees to have received, at a minimum, the first dose of the primary series (Moderna or Pfizer) or a single dose COVID-19 vaccine (Janssen), have requested a lawful exemption, or been granted a lawful exemption.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
