GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Medical Laboratory Scientist) coordinates and participates in a variety of complex technical tasks in the performance of laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This is a generalist position, which includes microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, hematology, coagulations, and some phlebotomy.

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
-
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science, chemical biological or related degree is required.

Board certification (ASCP, NCA, AMT) as a MLS, MT, CLS, or MLT is required.

Basic Life Support certification required.

In addition to meeting the educational and/or license requirement(s) associated with this position, must be able to provide documentation (copy of transcript or diploma) to verify completion of education. At a minimum, documentation provided must be for the applicable college diploma(s) and board certifications.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated competence in the area of laboratory procedures required.

A minimum of 6 months clinical laboratory experience is preferred.

Significant skill and knowledge in Laboratory Information System (LIS) applications / automated technology is desired.
