Job description
In the Medical Billing Specialist role, you will be a critical part of our revenue operations team. You'll serve as an expert on all things billing, this includes: updating the clinicians on significant changes to medical code sets, submitting claims daily, problem-solving denials, and more.
As a Medical Billing Specialist you will:
- Interact with our providers and educate them about documentation and coding best practices
- Work on all aspects of the billing and payment collection process
- Assess whether additional codes can be assigned based on chart documentation
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of key rules and common practices as relates to reimbursement
- Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
- Review patient charts and documents to ensure all codes are active and accurate
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years of billing experience, outpatient clinical billing experience preferred
- Extensive experience and aptitude with all aspects of the medical practice billing cycle
- Denial management and recovery work experience is required
- AACP or AHIMA medical coding certification
- Must have strong working knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT Codes
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
- Prior experience with at least one EHR and revenue cycle management software
- Team player, strong personal engagement and contributor to a positive work environment

- Private practice billing experience in a fast-paced work environment
- Experience navigating payor provider portals
- Eager to be part of an interdisciplinary team, including physicians, operations & technology experts, and community managers
