Medical Biller/Insurance Specialist Jacksonville, NC 28546

We are looking for a Medical Biller to join our Family Medicine Practice full time in Jacksonville, NC. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can check patients benefits with insurance co, work problem claims, unpaid claims, and also work patient accounts. We need someone who is a thinker and does not just take a quick response from an insurance company that may be an incorrect response. This position will require working claims and checking benefits. Our providers do their own coding, but we do want someone who knows billing/coding and will keep up with the rules and requirements as they change.

Responsibilities:

• Call insurance companies for benefits
• Follow up on unpaid claims or claims that are paid incorrectly
• Enter charges in a timely manner in a high-volume setting, and ensure claims pass through all error checks to arrive at payer for processing
• Maintains knowledge regarding policies and procedures with Medicare/Medicaid Carriers and third-party payers, including HCC and RAF guidelines
• Effectively work with and support providers through structured communication as it related to chart documentation and coding practices
• Understand and apply Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits and modifiers, as sometimes specifically required by 3rd party payers or Medicare
• Knowledge of insurance guidelines especially BCBS, Medicare, state Medicaid as well as other insurance carriers
• Interacts effectively and professionally with colleagues to provide helpful information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests

Qualifications:

• Medical Biller experience

• 2+ Years’ Experience is preferred

• eCW EMR experience is preferred

Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Confidentiality of patient information regarding HIPAA laws

• Strong computer skills

• Strong attention to detail

• Time management and workload prioritization skills

Pay Range:

• $20-$24 per hour depending on experience
