Job Purpose

Provide support and training to the Medical Assistants and Medical Office Staff. Works in collaboration with the Practice Administrators, Physicians, Physician Assistants as well as Advanced Practice Nurses, Registered and Licensed Practice Nurses in delivering patient care. The Team Lead also serves as Medical Assistant to ensure office flow when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures new medical assistants and front desk staff are trained and oriented to their role. Conducts site safety training for all new site staff.
  • Address patient concerns.
  • Performs functions of Medical Assistant.
  • Coordinates daily huddles for site-based clinical team(s).
  • Guides Medical Assistants through daily functions, including suggestions to Practice Administrators for training modifications or further training of Medical Assistants, and monthly assignments.
  • Ensure patient care rooms are assigned, cleaned, and maintained; equipment is set up properly and that procedures are followed.
  • Oversee daily responsibilities of medical assistants, providing appropriate feedback training as necessary.
  • Meet with Practice Administrator and Director of Clinical Services as assigned.
  • Coordinate scheduling of team meetings.
  • Receive call outs for assigned office and collaborates with Practice Administrator to ensure proper staffing, including providing coverage for staffing gaps when needing.
  • Provide feedback for performance evaluations to Practice Administrator.
  • Conducts equipment checks for repair and complete Service Desk repair ticket request(s) or contacts repair vendor(s).
  • May assist with interview process for Medical Assistant or front desk candidates in conjunction with Senior or Associate Practice Administrators.
  • Audit clinical competency and skill, as well as adherence to policies and workflows of Medical Assistants assigned to site.

Qualifications

Education:

  • CPR Certified, current
  • Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant Program

Experience:

  • At least three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience in primary care
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, required
  • Commitment to provide preventive, high quality health care services to a diverse community population without discrimination

Skills:

  • Computer (data entry), electronic medical record experience, required
  • Phlebotomy skills, required
  • Communication (verbal and written)
  • Exceptional listening skills to understand patients and must be able to take and follow directions from supervisors and providers.
