Job Summary: Medical Assistant needed for our Waco location. Provides exceptional customer service and promotes a professional image and attitude. Needs to be friendly, outgoing, and a multi-tasker (We want you to have fun!). Responsible for assisting a single Nurse Practitioner in clinic; patient preparation and basic screening procedures, to assure efficient patient flow.

Not just with our employees, but also with our patients. We have a small patient base that comes into our office every month, and we make sure that each and every patient feels like they are a part of the journey/family with Hormones by Design. Expect to work between 35-40 hours each week!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Medical Assistant

  • Performs initial assessment of patients to include collection and documenting of vital signs, chief complaint, history, allergies, current medication, results of laboratory.
  • Provide assistance to medical providers during examination and treatment of patients, including giving various injections as ordered
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients, customers, self, and other employees
  • Adhere to clinic dress code; Identify yourself to patients and customers on the phone and in person; Responds to phone calls and messages in a timely manner
  • Attends necessary meetings and takes responsibility for content if absent; Maintains professional growth and participates in additional training as needed; Attends meetings on time
  • Assist with daily operation including answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, and other duties as assigned as needed
  • Performs care in accordance with standards of care, Quality Assurance Criteria, and policy and procedure guidelines
  • Will be able to work some mornings before 7:00AM
  • Greets, comforts, and accommodates patients.
  • Explains clinic policy to patients
  • Schedules Appointments via phone or follow-ups in person.
  • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival
  • Reviews schedule daily and prepares next days schedule (with patient results as appropriate).
  • Answers patient's questions via phone or in person. Consults with physician on questions as needed.
  • Takes messages for co-workers and physicians, and provides accurate information.
  • Monitors online fax system and office e-mail. Returns faxes and e-mails as appropriate.
  • Ensures patients receive new patient paperwork before their scheduled appointment.
  • Scans all documents (including lab or imaging results) and places them in patient charts as needed.
  • Protects patient's rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information per state/federal HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Other job duties as assigned by Office Manager or Providers.
  • Wears scrubs or other proper office attire as decided by the Office Manager.
  • Learns and uses EMR - Practice Fusion
  • Makes outgoing phone calls including reminder notices to patients.
  • May need to take prescription refill messages
  • Ensures all office supplies are stocked. Reports shortages to Office Manager to be ordered.
  • Opens or closes the office as needed.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in other assigned duties as designated by the Office Manager, Practice/Operations Manager or providers.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work performed in an office and clinic setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work environment may present exposure to virus, disease, and infection.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Possesses skills and knowledge in the following areas: Must be able to read and write the English language in a legible and understandable manner.

  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, physicians, insurance companies, suppliers, and personnel.
  • Must be knowledgeable of medical practices and procedures

Requirements: 1 - 2 year min. of Medical Assistant Experience
Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $17/hr – After 90 days $19/hr with satisfactory performance
