Thermal Product Solutions is a leader in thermal processing products and test solutions. TPS designs and manufactures industrial and laboratory ovens and furnaces, and environmental temperature cycling and stability test chambers. Our product brands include Blue M, Gruenberg, Lindberg/MPH, Tenney, Lunaire, Wisconsin Oven, and Baker Furnace. We are hiring at our locations in PA, MI and WI.

Summary: Under the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer designs industrial ovens and oven systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stay current and informed of new developments in industry and new parts or processes to improve products.
  • Research, develop, and design industrial ovens and oven systems, meeting engineering standards, applicable codes, customer specifications, and within cost constraints.
  • Work with customers and vendors on equipment design.
  • Redesign standard products, improving quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
  • Evaluate and select components and parts for products.
  • Develop working relationships with Electrical Engineering and other departments to address and resolve issues.
  • Act as a technical resource for Sales, Aftermarket and Quality Assurance
  • Participate in cross functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and to ensure the continuous improvement of processes and methods.
  • Occasionally travel to customer sites.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and three to five years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed Professional Engineer Preferred. Lean Manufacturing experience desirable.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as technical specifications, professional journals, and blueprints. Ability to write reports and documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and other employees of the Company.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications. AutoCAD Inventor desired, or experience with similar software.

Other Qualifications: Creative thinker, motivated, and highly organized. Team player with a positive attitude.
