Position Description JOB TITLE: Maintenance Mechanic II Supervisor: Maintenance Manager Scope: Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fleet vehicles. Duties and Responsibilities: Applies knowledge of operating principles of internal combustion engines, accessories, powertrains and chassis components and sub-systems to all Lake County Transit Management, Inc. vehicles. Assists in servicing, lubricating, removing, and replacing components and assemblies related to the fuel, cooling, exhaust, engine performance, drivetrain, hydraulic, and suspension systems. Performs corrective maintenance on selected mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and/or components. Completes all maintenance forms and records. Is familiar with the practices and procedures of preventive maintenance, the company Maintenance Program and shop safety. Employs test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment during troubleshooting procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Must be able to understand, follow and carry out written and/or verbal instructions. Must have a general knowledge of fuels and lubricants, vehicle and fuel safety procedures and cleaning materials. ADDITIONALLY, MUST HAVE A THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF AND BE ABLE TO: Demonstrated skills that include but is not limited to the following: a. Successful Diagnostics, Analyzing and Troubleshooting Training b. Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training c. Air Conditioning Systems 608 Training and Certification d. Detroit Diesel / Allison Engine and Transmission Diagnostics Training e. Cummins Engine Diagnostics Training f. Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training g. Basic Electrical Systems Training h. Safety Vision on Board Monitoring Systems Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training i. Advanced Electrical Systems Training j. Lift U/RiconWheelchair Lift/Ramp Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training k. Luminator/Twin Vision Headsigns Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training l. Multi-Plex Electrical Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training m. Thermoking Intelligair Trouble Shooting and Diagnostics Training High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency required. Must have a valid Driver’s License with a clean record for at least seven (7) years. Obtain Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement and Airbrakes. Must pass physical examination including drug and alcohol screen, and back evaluation. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift or move up to fifty pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel or crawl. Must be able to do repetitive tasks. The employee is exposed to caustic chemicals and high noise levels while in the work environment. Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally. Physical activity includes, but is not limited to: driving company vehicles, operating radios, computerized farebox, head-signs and computer keyboard, handling, holding, lifting passenger packages, hearing passengers’ requests, locking, opening, climbing, balancing, bending, squatting, twisting, rotating, kneeling, vision (both near and far), speaking/signaling, reaching, pulling/pushing, right side acceleration/air brake foot pedals, sliding left sided window at driver’s seat, mirrors to adjust inside/outside of vehicle, destination sign, sun visor, levers/buttons/switches needed to operate bus/make adjustments to parts of bus during pre-trip inspection, lap seat belt, bus seats up/down to access wheelchair areas on wheelchair accessible buses, emergency hatch to open and close in case of an emergency (rare) or if air conditioning failure, 3 years' experience preferred.
This position is second shift 3pm to midnight.
