POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Tutor is responsible for ensuring educational quality of the program and implementing the academic portion of the program model. Academic Tutors will specialize in either Math or Language Arts. Using the provided curriculum and strategies aligned to each school’s in- class instruction methods. Academic Tutors must provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment consistent with the program model and goals and ensure the academic success of students. Tutors report directly to the Site Coordinator.
All 21CCLC positions are dependent on the availability of funds and continuation of the 21CCLC contract. The current contract provides programming for the following three school years (2021- 2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024) with the possibility of extension for an additional two years (2024-2025 and 2025-2026).
HOURS:
Monday 2pm-5:30pm
Wednesday 12:15pm-3:00pm
Friday 2pm-6pm
Prep and training hours as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills/Knowledge:
- Experience facilitating math or language arts instruction with an emphasis on youth requiring academic intervention
- Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills, well organized and multi-tasked oriented.
- Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations
- Skilled in general youth programs group or classroom management.
- Must be proficient in Word and Excel programs, with Windows XP, Publisher, Power Point/ LCD projector preferred.
- Ability to operate other software applications as required.
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience teaching and facilitating academic instruction required
- General office operations experience preferred.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certified (training available upon hire)
