Position Title: Materials Engineer

Position Summary:

  • Optimize critical material manufacturing process to produce defect-free material
  • Improve material manufacturing processes
  • Determine critical process variations and implement controls
  • Improve process by analyzing related yields
  • Use statistical tools to determine and optimize process capabilities
  • Assure product and process quality by designing appropriate test methods
  • Conduct engineering studies (including failure analysis) and prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Provide hands-on technical support to production
  • Train others on proper equipment setup and operation
  • Generate and update work instructions
  • Work with suppliers to ensure material-related issues are resolved

Job Requirements:

Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics

Experience: Some industry experience a plus

General Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of the theories and applications of materials properties, metallurgy, metrology, and thermodynamics
  • Skilled in appropriate and accurate use of measurement toolsets (e.g., force gauge, caliper, micrometer, optical comparator, reticle, toolmakers microscope)
  • Logical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in project management
  • Detail-oriented
  • Fast learner, self-motivated, and accomplishment driven
  • Skilled in use of MS Office computer applications
  • Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report

Physical Attributes Required:

  • Sitting, standing, walking, and computer use up to 8 hours/day
  • Physical ability to lift 25+ pounds
