As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will be responsible for the materials and processes (M&P) used to produce electronic assemblies in Blue Origin’s Engines. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of materials and processes used to build PWA, CCA, cables, harnesses; as well as a rigorous systems engineering mindset. You will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on solders and soldering, encapsulants, conformal coating, plating, staking compounds and other materials/processes for building PWB, CCA, cables, and harnesses. Your tasks will include conducting multidisciplinary problem-solving activities and propose solutions to prototype and manufacturing challenges. (i.e., design for manufacturability) to produce PWB, CCA, cables, and harnesses. You will also work collaboratively with manufacturing, quality, suppliers and service providers on development, prototype, and production electronic assemblies. Additionally, you will develop Blue Origin standard drawing notes for PWA, CCA, cables, and harnesses.

Qualifications:
  • Industry experience developing and producing PWB, CCA, cables, and harnesses.
  • Experienced in applying commercial and military specifications and standards related to PWA, CCA, cables and harness.
  • Excellence in collaborating and communicating with diverse and cross-functional team.
  • B.S. degree or higher in an engineering, science, mathematics, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • Conduct multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and propose solutions to prototype and production manufacturing challenges. (i.e., design for manufacturability).
  • Expertise in applying commercial and military specifications and standards related to PWA, CCA, cables and harness such as IPC J-STD-001 on soldering, IPC-2221 for PWB, IPC HDBK-850 for CCA, IPC/WHMA-A-620 FOR CABLES & HARNESSES, MIL-HDBK-700 and/or NASA-STD-8739.1 on polymer applications.
  • Developing solder, encapsulants, staking compounds, plating and conformal coatings callout on drawings for electronic assemblies.
  • Laboratory methods to non-destructive and destructive material/part/assembly analysis of PWB, CCA, electronic assemblies, cable and harnesses.
  • Tin whisker, red plague, and corrosion mitigation of PWB, CCA, electronic assemblies, cable and harnesses

Compensation range for on-site WA applicants:
Engineer - Materials & Process Senior is $133,000 - $196,000
Engineer - Materials & Process III is $108,540 - $159,192
Engineer - Materials & Process II is $88,110 - $129,228
Engineer - Materials & Process I is $74,000 - $109,000
