Job description
Summary: Material Planner coordinates activities involved with procuring primarily, but not limited to, raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, MRO goods and services, and supplies for the organization.
What You Will Do:
- Coordinate operational buying activities to insure a continuous supply of materials as required by manufacturing or system demands.
- Analyze and create material releases to suppliers according customer demand.
- Conduct mid and long term material planning/forecasting and ordering.
- Maintain inventory targets according to the logistics strategy and demand.
- Track material from release until its arrival at the plant. Ensure correctness of received deliveries.
- For MRO purchases, confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule. Select new products for purchase by testing, observing or examining item. Estimate values according to knowledge of market price and obtain necessary approvals.
- Implement continuous improvement of supply chain processes. Participate in cost savings program and provide suggestions, and implements, savings ideas on at least an annual basis
- Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, delivery and inventories.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of problem and take corrective action.
- Maintain good relations with key suppliers to ensure their commitment to our company
- Manage Return to Vendor (RTV) process to ensure timely processing of non-conforming materials and adequate inventory levels for production required parts.
What You Need to Be Successful:
- 3+ years of material planning experience required.
- A four-year degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Experience and good working knowledge with SAP or other MRP system required.
- MS Office proficiency required.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communication required.
- Customer focus and negotiation skills required.
