Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Material Handler 1st Shift to join the Starline Team in Canonsburg, PA.
What Will You Do?
Role: The Material Handler plays a vital role in the productivity of designated departments. The role is responsible for making sure that all lines have an active job and the next job is identified and ready to move to the line to be worked on. They must also make sure that all materials have been counted and issued accurately and correctly.
Main Activities:
Main Job Duties:
- Follow all documented Material Issuing Procedures with no exceptions.
- Pull material from the Warehouse and the Supermarkets to prepare it for use on the production floor. (Priority is set using Dispatch or supervisor request)
- Protect powder coated material for delivery or storage.
- Verify inventory accuracy while pulling materials and follow documented Kitting Procedures when a discrepancy arises.
- Check and reply to emails about ECNs and material issues
- Put away items in drop zones
- Quantify and process scrap (Production Drops and Non-conforming Materials) working with the Inventory Control Team
- Fulfill requests for the lines (ie. replace QTN items, remove extra parts and send them back into the warehouse and supply parts due to shortages)
- Use order picking equipment in a safe manner. (Fork truck/lift truck training and certification will be provided upon hire.)
- Perform necessary inventory transactions within the ERP system used to control inventory and manage jobs on the production floor.
- Use software programs such as Syteline, Dispatch and Outlook regularly throughout the shift.
- Multi-task expeditiously due to productions demands.
- Cross training to work in other functional department of the plant
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Experience:
- Previous experience in Warehouse/Kitting role preferred
- Ability to read shop drawings and schematics is helpful
- Proven proficiency with Starline product knowledge preferred
- Good mental arithmetic, spatial awareness and judgment are essential.
- Attention to detail is important for pulling the proper materials to assemble a kit.
- Effective equipment selection by determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
- Ability to work in an industrial or warehouse environment and production floor.
- Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy.
- Professional attitude and ability and willingness to train new team members properly to maintain Inventory accuracy.
- Ability to work within close tolerances
- Ability to effectively communicate with production and engineering teams, both verbal and written
- Ability to use MS Outlook, Word and Excel proficiently
