Job Summary

CWU is accepting applications for individuals to perform tutoring for the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) or the Migrant Academic Services Academy Program (MASA). HEP/MASA provides GED tutoring on the following subjects: Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA). These positions are designated as temporary/hourly positions.

Job Duties

  • Provide tutoring in at least two of the following subjects Math, RLA, Social Studies, and or Science (applicants that can tutor in more than one subject will be preferred)
  • Provide group and 1:1 tutoring
  • Facilitate study groups
  • Use technology to reinforce curriculum
  • Motivate and encourage students
  • Develop or enhance HEP/MASA curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Minimum of One year of tutoring

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA or Bachelor’s Degree
  • GED instruction experience
  • Highlighting prior instruction/classroom support related experience and applicable education/training in your application materials will make your application stronger.

Pay & Work Schedule

Pay: $15.74 to $18.00 per hour/Dependent on position and experience

Schedule/Hours: 5pm to 9pm Monday through Thursday (schedule may vary slightly)

Working Conditions: Work may be performed in a laboratory/shop setting, involving heavy lifting, working with tools and equipment. It is essential to be able to meet the physical demands of remaining at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, using repetitive arm, hand and finger movements. Some stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying or moving of objects and other movements may be required.

Additional information: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for temporary/hourly tutor positions through June 2023. Selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill positions on an as-needed basis, however this posting does not imply that a position will be filled or any guarantee that applicants will be contacted.

Benefits: Temporary/Hourly positions are eligible to accrue paid sick leave. This leave will accrue at one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours of work.
