This is a Full-Time (37.5 hours), Non-Exempt Position

Under the supervision of Children’s Home Society of California’s (CHS) Marketing and Communications Administrator, the Marketing and Communications Specialist will:

· Manage Marketing and Communications project traffic

· Edit and update the CHS website as needed

· Create flyers and email blasts

· Write blog posts for the CHS website

· Conduct research on news and events pertaining to the field of Early Learning and Education, Marketing and Communications, and Development and update key staff on a weekly basis

· Process Family Education Program orders using appropriate software

· Package Family Education Program materials

· Conduct data entry and prepare reports

· Organize and maintain files for the Department

· Support the Marketing and Communications Department, the Family Education Program, and the Development Department as needed

· Provide clerical assistance outside of program-related duties to accommodate and support the office

· Maintain all records in a high-quality manner and within record protection, retention, and destruction guidelines

· Adhere to all agency policies and procedures, as well as applicable contractual and governmental regulations

· Work some evening and weekend hours as required

· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field desired

· High School Diploma or Equivalent required plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience required

· Prior non-profit experience preferred

· Experience with marketing techniques required

· Experience with publishing software for PC required

· Strong writing skills and the ability to edit written materials recognizing typographical and grammar errors

· Strong data entry skills

· Ability to prepare and present effective written work, provide strong attention to detail, and produce error-free work

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the agency staff

· Proactive self-motivator with a professional, positive, and flexible attitude.

· Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

· Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic

· Ability to work independently and be accessible while teleworking

· Ability to accept direction and to utilize supervision to improve performance

· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

· Ability to work standing while packaging Family Education Program materials

· Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

· Automobile, valid driver’s license, good driving record, and automobile insurance

· Ability to travel via air and surface transportation, including travel between multiple offices

SALARY SCALE:

$21.60 to $25.25 per hour, based on experience and education plus excellent benefits (including 100% employer paid medical, dental, and vision premium coverage for eligible employees and their eligible dependents and 10% pension plan contribution for eligible employees)
