Linxx Global Solutions, Inc. (Linxx) is currently seeking Marine Mechanic. The position is located in Aberdeen Test Center, Maryland

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains various types of marine diesel engines and related equipment, such as generators, transmissions, pumps, macerator units, electric starters, and compressors.
  • Inspects, repairs, and overhauls diesel water pumps, steering gears, fuel injection equipment, propulsion shafts, hydraulic systems, electrical (AC and DC) systems, and oil/water separator units.
  • Maintains capstans, winches, pumps, hoisting equipment, pneumatic tools, etc.
  • Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Makes visual and operational checks, troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical or electrical malfunctions using a wide variety of test equipment, such as a multi-meter, timing light, compression tester, feeler gauge, piston ring compressor, dial indicator, and inside and outside micrometer
  • Interprets and applies manufacturers repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, safety and service manuals.
  • Performs tune-ups and major overhauls to power head, replacing pistons and rings, bearings, valves and gaskets.
  • Repair wiring, switches, adjusts throttle arms, and replaces water pump impellers and intake pumps in cooling systems.
  • Check propellers, fittings, tanks and fuel lines. Flushes and lubricates motors, grease throttle and gear controls.
  • Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
  • Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
  • Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Performs lubrication of all machinery, including various parts of the boats, and aligns and adjusts tension or fitting.
  • Maintains batteries.
  • Operates travel lift

Required Qualifications

  • Must have 5 yr. applicable experience or completion of formal training and 3 yr. applicable experience
  • Certificate of Boating Safety Education.
  • Physical requirements such as working at heights utilizing fall protection, working in confined spaces, lifting, and working in extreme conditions.
