Basic Function
The basic function of the Manufacturing Technician is tobuild and test complex ultra-high vacuum (UHV) assemblies and precision mechanicalcomponents for use in the operation of Lyncean’s Compact Light Source (CLS). Expertise in reading assembly drawings andschematics in order to assemble vacuum components and related hardware isrequired. A good candidate for thisposition will be able to improve assembly procedures based on experience andredline documentation and drawings as needed. Clear communication, punctuality,experience with UHV hardware, precision assembly and a willingness to learn onthe job are essential.
Responsibilities
1. Assembleand test prototype vacuum components and associated hardware
2. Writeassembly procedures and improve existing work instructions
3. Documentredlines and changes as needed
4. Supportthe engineering staff and all related tasks
5. Organizeand manage the work bench, flow hood and assembly tooling
6. Ensurethe work areas are clean and safe for day to day work
7. Manageinventory of spare parts and excess components
Skills
1. Abilityto work independently from mechanical assembly drawings and Bill of Materials
2. Abilityto assemble complex mechanical and vacuum related assemblies
3. Demonstratedability to understand and follow cleanroom practices and protocols
4. Demonstratedability in precision assembly and understanding UHV handling techniques
5. Skilledin precision measurements and alignment
6. Experiencewith standard manufacturing and assembly tools: leak detectors, pumps, valves,gauges, torque wrenches, drill press, calipers, micrometers, test indicators,surface plates, machinist levels, etc.
7. Clearcommunication between engineering groups to clarify tasks and utilize teamwork
Education/Training
UHV Training and/or Associates Degreefrom accredited institution or equivalent training and experience
Experience
5 years minimum in precision assembly or UHV assembly,integration and testing within R&D or semiconductor capital equipment environment
Travel Requirements
Ability to obtain VISAs for Lyncean target market countries
