Material Handler/Forklift Operator - 3rd Shift Position - 8:00 pm Start time with overtime as needed

Responsible for the efficient and safe transporting of unfinished and/or finished product or material for internal or external customers to specific locations for manufacturing, storing, loading or unloading to achieve the necessary results to meet a production schedule and/or shipping schedule.

Works production department environment taking buns from the production area to the bun warehouse and from the bun warehouse the loading dock to be loaded onto trailers for delivery to external customers. Position requires daily communication between the driver and supervision. The position is exposed to extreme temperatures changes. Operates a forklift in congested confined areas where other forklifts are operating and other employees are working and walking.

  • Must be able to read and completely understand the labeling process and read and write English.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment
  • Recharge forklift batteries or propane tanks as instructed
  • Understanding of the Carpenter Company Safe Stacking Policy and recognition of Prohibited and Restricted Area requirements.
  • Transports finished product to the bun warehouse and/or dock for storing or loading on trailers.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift in confined areas and where employees are walking.
  • Must operate a forklift in compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Must obtain a Carpenter Company Forklift Certification prior to operating a forklift. Must have the ability to read a basic tape measure. Must have basic reading, writing and math skills. Must have some computer experience and be able to use a computer in day to day operations. Must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
