Manufacturing Engineer – Lean to be our Lean Quarterback and make a positive impact though optimization of the production processes that manufacture our industry leading football helmets that protect your favorite teams on the recreation fields all the way to the professional stadiums.

Certor Sports has some of the most iconic performance and sports brands in the country, including Schutt and VICIS, whose helmets are currently ranked first by both the NFL and Virginia Tech University’s Helmet Lab. Our innovative and cutting edge head-to-toe protective equipment is used for football, baseball, and softball as we protect everyone from the Pee-wees to the Pros.

This goal is to develop materials and information flows that optimize labor and production capabilities producing results that meet our company and financial goals.

Our processes include injection molding, paint systems, wire bending & welding, assembly, packaging, and distribution.

The successful candidate will bring their Engineering degree and experience leading kaizen events. They will execute and manage multiple Lean, 5S, and Continuous Improvement projects throughout our production facilities.

Responsibilities and Objectives include but not limited to:

  • Own the process for capturing performance date, driving visual management systems, and accountability huddles.
  • Optimize our production processes to achieve production, financial, and company goals.
  • Utilize Lean methodologies, tools, and principles to Lead Kaizen events to develop continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • Learn and understand our products, production methods, and capabilities.
  • Train and coach the team on Lean Manufacturing, Waste Reduction, 5S, Kanbans, OEE, and other methods & tools to facilitate Continuous Improvement.
  • Communicate with management and all levels of production to implement projects and plan, then report the results.

Experience and Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field)
  • Experience Leading Kaizen events, not just being a participant.
  • Lean Certification is strongly preferred.
  • Strong data gathering, mining, and analyses skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum direction and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel to other facilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and analytical software.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with production employees, peers, and manufacturing management.
