Job Summary
This position will be responsible for leading and managing the Center for Transfer and Adult Students including setting vision and operational goals, as well as overseeing its staff to ensure the provision of quality service, communication, and support to all transfer students and adult degree completers.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Oversees programs to support transfer and adult students including articulation agreements, academic advising, coaching, orientation, and peer mentoring.
- Works closely with IUPUI faculty and staff as well as those at Ivy Tech Community College to maximize the enrollment and success of transfer and adult students. Serve as Director of the IUPUI/Ivy Tech Passport Program.
- Oversees operations of the Center for Transfer and Adult Students.
- Develops and implements a strategic plan that supports IUPUI goals for transfer and adult enrollment and retention.
- Manages office budget.
- Develops and implements programs and services that ensure that transfer and adult students have a successful beginning at IUPUI, from point of inquiry through course enrollment and beyond.
- Maintains a high-level knowledge of transfer policies, processes, and programs as well as policies and processes for reengagement of previously enrolled students, IUPUI admissions policies, academic policies and requirements, and student service policies and procedures.
- Improves the effectiveness of retention efforts by ensuring that students receive individual advising, coaching, and mentoring.
- Supervises Center staff, ensuring they are able to consistently provide information, answer questions and troubleshoot issues directly related to the needs and concerns of transfer and adult students.
- Follows up on the resolution of student issues/concerns.
- Engages staff in ongoing professional development related to transfer and adult student needs.
- Serves as Director of IUPUI/Ivy Tech Passport Program.
- Maintains positive relationship with faculty, staff and administrators at Ivy Tech.
- Maintains annual MOU regarding shared resources and services.
- Ensures Ivy Tech students are receiving high-quality information and services that facilitate successful transfer to IUPUI.
- Works collaboratively with Office of Admissions and degree-granting schools to prioritize enrollment and success of transfer and adult students.
- Utilizes data to facilitate campus innovation and change to benefit transfer and adult students.
- Serves as vocal advocate for transfer and adult students.
- Monitors weekly progress toward strategic goals regarding student touchpoints.
- Oversees summative assessment and evaluation of programs and services for transfer and adult students.
- Provide reports to the campus, as appropriate.
- Maintains, updates, and facilitates articulation agreements.
- Works with faculty and departments to update existing articulation agreements on a regular basis. Ensures articulation information is updated on websites and other student-facing resources.
- Coordinates with the University Transfer Office.
General Responsibilities
- Provides highest level of operational leadership and coordination of assigned staff members to define student services methodologies and standards; provides direction and guidance on high priority student services projects/initiatives.
- Establishes short-term business plans and long-term operational objectives, including managing project timelines/deliverables and developing resource plans for multi-project/multiphase student services initiatives.
- Conducts a variety of personnel actions to include, but not limited to hiring, promotion, performance management, and dismissal.
- Manages high level assignments and allocation of student services resources, including negotiating and coordinating initiatives that involve staff in other departments/areas/teams; may coordinate large-scale student services projects with wide audiences in support of academic, wellness, inclusion, and safety initiatives.
- Makes budgetary recommendations/proposals based on resource needs and ensures cost containment.
- Researches and stays up-to-date on new industry student services standards, technologies, policies, and procedures; responsible for the implementation of new protocols/procedures to address business needs.
- Works collaboratively with other student services leaders across departments in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.
- Prepares management reports and summaries for senior administration, executive, steering and advisory committees; acts as advisor to executive committees; serves on various university committees, communities of practice, and task forces related to student services.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in law, public health, public affairs, counseling, social work, or related field
Preferred
- Master's degree in higher education student affairs or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 4 years in student services, higher education student affairs, or related field
- 1 year of management experience in relevant field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
