Managing Director

at JLens in Remote

About the Job

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Managing Director of JLens is the principal advocate for the organization’s mission, vision and values and, in conjunction with ADL, a partner in building the organization and sustaining its vision. JLens has laid the foundation over the past decade for the Jewish community’s entry into the values-based investing movement. This movement is important because it influences decision making for institutional investors and global corporations, creates positive social and environmental change, convenes faith leaders, and attracts younger investors seeking to invest with their values, while at the same time the movement has incorporated antisemitic and Israel delegitimization (BDS) efforts. Now as part of ADL, JLens is ready to scale and significantly expand its impact and is seeking a self-driven, dynamic and talented Managing Director to lead JLens into this next phase.

  • Advocate against the increasing antisemitism and anti-Israel BDS campaigns inroads into ESG and CSR.
  • Identify, evaluate and determine what, when and which coalitions and initiatives in the ESG/SRI/CSR arenas to lead and support.
  • Oversee the research on companies in the Jewish Advocacy Strategy and Jewish Global Values Index as relevant for scoring and corporate engagement.

  • Responsible for identifying, recruiting, training and developing a talented team of employees
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions
  • Support fundraising efforts, current earned revenue sources, and develop other revenues necessary to support the organization’s mission
  • Responsible for fiscal management including setting a budget with the Board, operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization and maintaining the organization in a positive financial position

JLens

ADL is the leading anti-hate organization in the world. Founded in 1913, its timeless mission is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.” Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of antisemitism and bias, using innovation and partnerships to drive impact. A global leader in combating antisemitism, countering extremism and battling bigotry wherever and whenever it happens, ADL works to protect democracy and ensure a just and inclusive society for all.

JLens, an organization that is part of the ADL family, explores a Jewish lens on investing, and serves as the bridge between the Jewish community and the $50 trillion values-based impact investing movement. JLens was established in 2012, and launched its Jewish Advocacy Strategy in 2015 with over $200 million invested to date from Jewish institutions. The Jewish values-based strategy invests in and conducts advocacy with approximately 300 US public companies, and in the Environment, Social Governance (ESG) Investing and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) movements – two influential arenas previously void of Jewish leadership. JLens recently launched the Jewish Values Global Index, allowing JLens to expand its advocacy globally. Within the ESG and CSR fields, JLens is the leading voice combatting antisemitism and the anti-Israel BDS campaign.
