Position Location:
This position is located in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Position Summary
This ER Waste Operations Manager position will focus primarily on supporting N3B Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Water Programs and TA-21 waste operations for the N3B Environmental Remediation organization. The ER Waste Operations Manager will be responsible for providing planning support, project waste coordination, regulatory compliance, data evaluation and interface with CHTRU Low-Level Waste Program and Disposition Group for environmental remediation activities throughout LANL.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to):
- The ER Waste Operations Manager is the primary point of contact on environmental requirements, compliance, and stewardship issues for the Environmental Remediation Program.
- Responsible for coordinating environmental remediation waste management activities with waste generators, line managers, operations managers, programmatic staff, field project execution leaders, ESH managers and environmental core compliance programs, and other N3B organizations.
- Serve as the coordinator and interface for the planning effort on N3B ER RCRA Remediation and Water Programs waste related activities.
- Interprets, recommends, and complies with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies.
- Assists projects to plan for waste generation and characterization.
- Proven experience providing interpretations and requirements implementation advice with respect to the RCRA, Clean Water Act (CWA), and the Clean Air Act (CAA).
- Validates sampling purge water analytical data against land application standards.
- Organizes and equips spill-control teams.
- Writes and updates environmental and spill-control procedures for Environmental Remediation.
- Assists in the coordination and preparation of National Environmental Policy Act Documents and required permits and renewals.
- Provides general support to the Regulatory & Stakeholder Interface for to support public outreach activities with Pueblos, Northern New Mexico Citizens' Advisory Board and Regional Coalition of LANL Communities. Also supports maintenance of the Electronic Public Reading Room, EIMS database, and planning and logistics for open public meetings.
- Trains and mentors more junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

- Ability to develop and lead large-sized projects, including defining scope, objectives and methods.

- Can be viewed as capable independent contributor and as highly competent within the broad discipline, both internally and externally.
- Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or engineering technology, or equivalent, related to the work to be performed and 7 -10 years of experience.
A combination of education and experience will be considered for equivalency.
5 years of practical waste management or regulatory compliance experience. Previous experience related to radiological contamination, ecological concerns, and regulatory requirements associated with construction, environmental, or facility operations projects is desirable.
Supervisory experience is highly desirable..
