Job description
The project engineer serves as the onsite representative of Warrior Met Coal in the planning and execution of large-scale capital projects. This position is responsible for providing technical and supervisory support to underground operations and supporting surface facilities as needed.
- Prioritize safety in all activities and across all stakeholders.
- Support the project manager and project team members by preparing and monitoring short and mid-range plans for new and ongoing capital projects.
- Provide cost analysis of projects and regular updates of project cost and timeline projections.
- Prepare and coordinate the issue and review of bid packages and responses. Issue purchase requisitions and follow-up drawing submittals and delivery schedules. Supply purchasing department with information to secure firm quotations, analyze quotations and select vendors and contractors within purchasing department guidelines.
- Solicit, review, and approve or revise drawings, plans, and other materials submitted by vendors and consultants.
- Review and manage project related contracts with legal and purchasing departments.
- Monitor contractors and service providers to ensure industry best practices are followed, project schedule is met, and costs are held within budgeted amounts.
- Document progress and plan exceptions or budget overages for review and/or approval.
- Prepare periodic project updates to management.
