Job description
Creative Operations is dedicated to supporting global publishers with their product development and approvals. The Manager, Product Development will lead a team of 5 people responsible for the approvals on submissions and assets for print books, learning products, and digital products, and for providing licensees with all of the necessary information about branding, art, and editorial they need to create Disney, Pixar, Lucas, Marvel and National Geographic products. This position is based in Florida and reports to the Sr Manager, Product Development.
JOB SUMMARY:
Support licensed product for global books, magazines, digital and learning across Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucas and National Geographic franchises
Manage team of 5 project managers, providing direction with their account management and approval issues and make decisions in areas of conflicting interest
Provide product development support to a set of key licensees with day-to-day inquiries, which are related to systems, creative guidelines, assets, and process
Route product and marketing submissions in Online Product Approvals (OPA) system, synthesizing feedback from creative teams so that licensees have a clear understanding of the changes they need to make in order for their products to be approved by creative stakeholders
Partner with Commercialization to address concerns/issues that arise and fortify weak areas
Understand each market and business situation to best attend to the needs of individual licensees
Act as liaison between creative teams and licensees, learning how to balance (and to occasionally arbitrate) differences between the creative guidelines of Art/Editorial/Design teams and licensee business limitations
Establish relationships with internal DPW creative teams in order to stay educated about Art, Editorial, and Design guidelines for all franchises
Work with external teams (Marvel, Lucas, Pixar, Brand Management, Legal, etc.) to secure approvals
Share best practices amongst team to ensure consistent licensee support across all project managers
Detect reoccurring trends regarding process and approval issues; implement improvements and solutions after discussions with partners
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years’ experience with project management
3+ years’ experience managing individuals
2+ years’ experience working with creative teams
High level of organization skills, ability to work with many complex and detailed projects at once
High level of communication skills (written and oral)
Excellent relationship building skills – negotiation skills a plus
Ability to work independently under pressure and within tight deadlines
Ability to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders
Problem solver with a “can do” attitude
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Undergraduate degree preferred
