Every day, we rise to the challenge to make a difference and here’s how the Manager, Packaging Engineer role will make an impact:

Manage all packaging engineering activities to support pharmaceutical product lines which include package design, package testing, process development, and specification of materials and/or equipment to ensure proper configuration and production output requirements. Develop and coordinate packaging projects and supervise packaging engineers and scientists’ personnel to ensure the timely introduction of packaging projects.

Provide package development technical leadership necessary to manage key company growth and innovation development projects through commercialization, utilizing both internal and external resources.

Manage the design and selection of primary and secondary packaging components and suppliers. Oversee the specifications and technical reports for primary and secondary packaging components.

Consult Liaison, Project Management, and Business Development units to ensure the efficient progress of packaging projects. Contribute to concept and design of research proposals. Review Request for Estimate in primary container closure system portion.

Plan and schedule all group activities and assignments, monitor progress, and prepare reports to ensure that established goals and objectives are being met.

Oversee the development of package design/equipment specifications, prototypes, and other design outputs as required.

Communicate with applicable departments to plan for the packaging of products being developed or modified, and to analyze reports related to packaging design and/or production problems.

Maintain all performance management schedule targets as defined.

Review and approve packaging specifications/procedures and other technical documentation for all product lines, ensuring appropriate regulatory and market compliance.

Assist senior management in establishing and monitoring budget requirements in support of packaging development projects and assist in strategic planning as required.

Identify, recruit, hire, train, and coach engineer and scientist personnel at all levels of experience. Develop and implement training plans and provide opportunities for continuous professional growth and career path to the package development personnel.

Within area of responsibility, understand and comply with all DPT safety, environmental and quality practices and procedures as outlined in organizational/departmental guidelines and SOPs as well as applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Client and customer facing communication will be required in this role from time to time, along with the ability to provide clear and succinct explanations of technical issues to both the clients and leadership.

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

Bachelor’s Degree is required (e.g., BS in Packaging, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field).

Master’s degree is preferred.
-
Minimum 10 years related experience is required to within pharmaceutical industry; as well as 5 years’ experience in a supervisory, leadership capacity.
