Manager of Payroll Services
PAM Health’s Payroll Manager will assist in providing leadership to the payroll department and oversee the tax processing. This position reports to the Payroll Director as part of the Finance department, and works closely with corporate and field level HR personnel.
I. Payroll
- Maintain and oversee payroll indicative data submitted by HR personnel through on-boarding documentation, and employee data changes through business processes, to ensure accurate wage, tax, and account information within PAM’s system of record; Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG).
- Strong knowledge of payroll and tax laws/regulations.
- Ensure payroll taxes are remitted/filed timely by our software provider of record: UKG to ensure compliance of all tax filings.
- Responsible for researching and resolution of payroll tax notices.
- Identify and drive best practices for tax administration.
- Assist Payroll Director in researching new states in regards to payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Assist team with tax laws, regulations and best practices.
- Support year-end payroll activities including W-2s.
- Serve as back up to Payroll Supervisor with garnishment processing as needed
- Act as a subject matter expert in regards to payroll department processes.
- Document and maintain Payroll Department Standard Operating Procedures.
- Review and reconcile hours authorized by facility Directors for accuracy.
- Researches and responds to facility HR Directors on employee inquiries regarding high level payroll related matters.
- Review/Approve/Update changes being made from business processes / workflow (Name, address, rate, job, account info, etc.)
- Prepares check requests for payroll related items where applicable / Prepares off-cycle manual checks when warranted.
- Assists Payroll Director with any necessary maintenance within Ultimate Kronos Group’s time & attendance and web based payroll solutions, and assists with testing of new releases or updates.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to payroll team members.
- Compile payroll data and create ad hoc reports as needed.
- Provide coverage for Payroll Supervisor as needed.
- Perform pay over pay analysis in combination with pre-process audit reporting.
- Monitor and maintain PTO utilization and balances.
- May prepare monthly report to US Department of Labor (12th of the month).
- May assist Payroll Supervisor as a Payroll Specialist for new builds / acquisitions as needed.
- Maintains files of reports and source documents in a neat and orderly manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the Payroll Director/Team as needed.

Experience: * 5+ years’ experience managing payroll within a mid-size company.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and with other team members.
- Must be able to input data accurately and timely.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Must exhibit telephone etiquette, customer service, and problem solving skills (within scope of job).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to manage workflow and volume
- Must have a general knowledge of accounting functions and pay day law within the scope of the payroll function.
- Excellent working knowledge of federal, state, FICA and local tax withholding laws and regulations.
