TMS International is seeking an experienced Employee and Labor Relations Manager for its North American Operations, located in suburban Horsham, Pennsylvania. This single contributor role will report to the VP of Human Resources, as a member of a lean, agile, cohesive, and collaborative HR Team. As the Employee and Labor Relations Manager no two days are alike, with each day presenting newfound opportunity to support our teammates and strengthen the organization. In this exciting and challenging role, you may be called upon to support a variety of employee and labor relations activities. These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a main point of contact for employee and labor relations concerns.
- Lead the grievance, arbitration, and collective bargaining process with multiple unions (Operating Engineers, Teamsters, United Steelworkers) across a decentralized and geographically dispersed workforce.
- Advise, coach and train teammates on HR policy, related employment law,performance management and other employee relations matters.
- Work closely as a trusted and confidential advisor to managers, to provide expertise and hands-on support in multiple and related areas that include recruitment, talent management, diversity & inclusion, workforce planning,onboarding, employee retention and change management.
- Conduct workplace investigations, document findings and make recommendations for corrective action, for the individual as well as continuous improvement for the organization.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Experience leading labor negotiations and managing the grievance and arbitration process
- Costing, analysis and drafting of memorandums of understanding and labor agreements
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local employment regulations
- Confident ability to engage in conflict resolution, reaching amicable outcomes
- Strong and persuasive interpersonal communication skills, to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, to support employee training and to influence positive outcomes
- Experience in a decentralized and geographically dispersed organization
- Organized, resourceful, results-driven, service-oriented professional, with an attention to details and commitment to meeting deadlines
- Flexible, resilient workstyle, with the ability to shift priorities
- A true team player, who puts the interests of the team ahead of their own
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- 5 or more years of hands-on employee and labor relations experience
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field; Masters Degree and professional certification preferred
- Willingness to travel to site locations, up to 20%
- Compensation commensurate with experience.
