Job Opening Summary
The operations manager provides leadership to the operations, supervision, management and safety of the flight and ground adult/pediatric, neonatal/pediatric and communication/transport teams. The operations manager is knowledgeable of the scope of practice and ensures competency of each transport team member and communication specialist. The operations manager is responsible for ensuring that the program meets and is in compliance with all JCAHO standards, state and federal regulations in which the transport team practices. The operations manager works collaboratively with the management team to manage the system for delivery of care with the highest degree of safety and quality. The operations manager is accountable for hiring, training and continuing education for all personnel who work for the service. The operations manager is responsible for fiscal and quality management. The operations manager serves as the clinical expert for the program and is responsible for maintaining evidenced-based practice in conjunction with the Medical Director. Promotes community outreach with integration into existing interfacility networks.
Job Opening Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Licensed as RN, registered respiratory therapist or certified as a paramedic in the state of Florida (prefer RN is a state of Florida certified paramedic).
- Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or related field required. Current staff may contract with the Program Director to obtain bachelor's degree and board certification.
- Advanced board certification specific to licensure required (CFRN, CEN, CFRN, UF CCP, CCEMT-P or FP-C).
- Master's degree in health-related field preferred.
- Specialty certifications required: AMCCC; ACLS, PALS, ENPC or PEPP; PHTLS, ITLS or TNCCP; and NRP.
- Minimum of five years of full-time pre-hospital practice as a nurse or paramedic with demonstrated clinical skills in flight medicine and three years of supervisory and/or education experience.
- Demonstrated excellent analytical, leadership, teaching, supervisory, interpersonal and fiscal management skills.
- Knowledgeable of patient care delivery models, care coordination, quality improvement processes and regulatory requirements.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
- Employees in this position will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver."
NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Licensed as registered nurse in the state of Florida or current Florida EMT-paramedic certification.
- Specialty board certification specific to licensure.
- RN to be preferred certified paramedic.
