The Maintenance Tech performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties with minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred; two years of technical or trade school preferred.
Experience: Must have experience in operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment; ensuring proper safety precautions. Must have experience in the area of building maintenance and basic mechanical engineering preferred.
Licensure: N/A
Additional Requirements: Must have complete knowledge of physical plant within two weeks of hire. Successful completion of training in CPI & CPR within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, preventive maintenance, HVAC and tests and inspections of the physical plant.
- Clean and change air filters as required through the preventive maintenance program.
- Clean kitchen grease traps and stove hood filters.
- Dispose of infectious/contaminated waste from the facility.
- Maintain facility grounds in a neat and attractive appearance.
- Operate and maintain emergency power plant.
- Maintain all light fixtures in good working condition and change light bulbs as needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance electrical test as well as the removal, installation and repair of all mechanical/electrical equipment with direct supervision of a supervisor.
- Perform various janitorial duties if needed.
- Responsible for keeping tools and materials in good condition and in their proper location and taking necessary safety precautions when handling hand/power tools and equipment.
- Take appropriate precautions ensuring proper tag out and lock out procedures when working on equipment.
- Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, and Safety/Risk Management Plans, policies and procedures.
- Assist in assuring a safe and risk preventive environment.
- Use time constructively and in an organized manner.
- Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
- Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
- Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
- Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
