How you will contribute to our Purpose:
The YMCA of Austin is seeking a highly motivated Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic and diverse team. As the Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the Facilities Team in addressing facility and maintenance needs across the association. You will perform monthly Preventative Maintenance services, regularly inspect buildings and mechanical operations, and work with center staff to close work orders.
You will also support the enterprise’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Reporting directly to the Vice President of Property & Facility Management, you will partner closely with the Facilities Team throughout the enterprise to achieve outcomes.
Salary: 51,000 per year

What you bring to the Purpose:
- Education & Experience:
- EPA 608 Technician Certification
- HVAC Certificate of Completion
- TDLR (electrical apprentice license)
- Minimum 2 years of related experience (HVAC, Electrical, Boilers)
- Proficient in MS Office and Teams
- Mechanical, electrical, and controls knowledge required
- Superior Customer Service Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail, follow-up, multi-tasking, and conflict resolution
- Able to demonstrate a high level of integrity and understanding of high quality
- Must possess a strong work ethic and a high level of self-accountability
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, and customers
- Skilled in Electrical measurement and inspection techniques. (Voltmeter, Oscilloscope, and other measurement equipment).
- Possess a working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Competent skills in reading schematics, using test equipment, and reading software coding to diagnose problems.
- Familiarity with Windows-based computers and their use for programming drives, PLCs, and other control devices and proven skills with all Microsoft Office.
- Proficient with AC and DC control circuits, sensors, switches, relays, timers, and fusing.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems. (Ball screws, bearings, gearing, and various way systems).
- This is a position that requires driving; therefore, you must have:
- A good driving record and pass our driving record check
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Be able to provide Department of Public Safety proof of driving record acceptable and insurance
- Preferred Qualifications:
- HVAC Test and Balance (TAB) experience
- OSHA 10- or 30-Hour training
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- 2 to 5 years experience in field service in the machine tool industry
What are the details?
- Perform system commissioning for YMCA buildings including boilers, HVACs, and Quality Assurance testing.
- Write technical reports at project completion for submission to YMCA Center Leaders and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
- Provide technical support to Customers and Contractors to resolve issues rapidly and thoroughly.
- Make recommendations for potential service enhancements or modifications to meet the ever-changing needs of the customer base.
- Provide technical support to customers and contractors.
- Diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repairs.
- Examine machines both mechanically and electrically, perform repairs by dismantling machines, and rebuild mechanically and electrically.
- Perform software updates on HMI and PLC
- Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problem products.
- Document in detail product problems and resolutions.
- Complete other job duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
- Lif to 50 pounds at times.
- Bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to maintain equipment and buildings.
- Exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
- Exposed to moving parts and electricity that require safety protocols
