**This position can work out of our Troy or Clinton Township offices**

Overview of Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining MSGCU facilities in a safe operating condition, maintaining preventive maintenance programs, and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns for members and team members. Works closely with all levels of the MSGCU team to ensure exceptional service and response to all mechanical and operational needs. Assesses and considers daily activities and uses good decision-making conclusions to prioritize and complete critical tasks to attain facilities goals and MSGCU objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary contact for facility issues related to climate control, electrical, generator backup, lighting, odors, smoke, damage, emergencies, and repairs.
  • Responds to emergency requests for repair services, diagnoses problems, and makes necessary repairs or calls on vendor for additional assistance.
  • Assists with maintaining building security (card access, video surveillance, alarm panels, keys) and fire safety (suppression, extinguishers, evacuation planning) giving attention to detail and abiding by safety guidelines.
  • Schedules and monitors the facility Building Automation System (BAS). Makes adjustments to thermostats, Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes and other interior space controls on a regular basis to maintain a comfortable and efficiently maintained environment.
  • Coordinates with Facilities administration and outside contractors to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Travels from site to site to perform regular audits, inspections, and evaluates the physical condition of the facilities for operability to determine if repairs are needed and makes repairs in a timely manner. Works closely with outside vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed according to timelines and specifications.
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and/or remounts office furniture and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power, and specialty tools, dollies, and hand trucks. Directs maintenance workers in various skilled trades (carpentry, glazing, plastering, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, signage, landscaping, security) to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Carries out technical and mechanical duties (door hardware, minor plumbing repairs, lighting fixture lamps, minor electrical repairs, furniture installation, communication board installation, signage installation, minor painting, and carpentry work) to ensure safe project completion, within established time frames, and in a cost efficient manner.
  • Maintains MSGCU’s maintenance vehicle, tools, storage areas, and equipment ensuring company assets are readily available, in safe operating condition, and are kept in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Transports various items (tools, equipment, furniture, supplies) to ensure the availability of materials required at a job site and/or delivery of items for emergency purposes.
  • Assists Facilities Manager in corporate initiative projects including large-scale repairs (roof, parking lot), new construction projects, and renovation projects.
  • Assists Facilities Manager in preparing annual maintenance budget and fixed asset budget

  • Strong working knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) related to security, HVAC, lighting, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Strong working knowledge of fire safety systems, generator, and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems.
  • Proficient with technology including, Outlook, Word, Excel, and BAS.
  • Must pass driving certifications needed to operate the MSGCU vehicle.

Essential Preparation and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Project Management or relevant certification in trade school or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience related to project management, facilities management, property management, or maintenance management; and
  • 3 years of experience in general maintenance and/or construction.
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of experience supporting multiple locations in a retail marketplace preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 15% sitting, 25% walking, and 60% standing. The job is performed under temperature variations and a generally hazard free environment.
  • Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
  • Required to travel throughout MSGCU’s service area. Vehicle will be provided by MSGCU for travel to any branch location, however, team member may be asked to provide own transportation with eligibility for on-the-job mileage reimbursement on occasion.
  • Normal working hours will be the standard Credit Union branch and administrative office hours of operation, however, periodic weekends and/or before/after normal work hours. #zr
