Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Install and maintain production equipment as well as primary and secondary facility support systems
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during routine production hours
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) functions for production and support equipment as specified by PM schedule(s)
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production equipment
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and works orders to perform required service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments as needed
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas, in and outside the facility
  • Other assignments as defined

Qualification requirements

  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills required to build relationships across the business
  • Must be able to follow written instructions in English, read a tape measure
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational, stress and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of production maintenance experience.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience; furniture manufacturing preferred
  • Sewing machine experience preferred

Physical demands and abilities

  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, and walking
  • Able to lift 50 pounds, repetitively
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel parts

Education

Preferred
  • Associates or better in Mechanical Systems or related field
