Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift, Facility Services

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time position; Hours will be Tuesday through Saturday 3:30 p.m.to midnight.
PRIMARY DUTY: The Maintenance Technician performs routine and semi- skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing and structural systems, using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing devices according to work orders or verbal instructions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform general maintenance on buildings, including but not limited to: semi-skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, dry walling, plumbing, heating, limited air conditioning and mechanical repair work, door hardware, exit and emergency lighting.
- Repair electrical switches, outlets, and fixtures.
- Perform semi-skilled plumbing work including the repair and replacement of plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, and faucets; clear obstructions from water and sewer lines.
- Perform semi-skilled level of carpentry work including the repair of walls, windows, siding, doors and other carpentry work.
- Perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks including filter changes, lubricating, inspecting, and tightening as assigned.
- Maintain and repair a variety of floor coverings such as carpeting, tile, and linoleum.
- Perform repair of roof coverings such as composition, rolled, and shingle.
- Operate and maintain a variety of maintenance tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, paint sprayers, generators, pressure washers, and various hand tools required for carpentry, plumbing, and maintenance tasks.
- Contribute to the overall success of Facility Services by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: High school diploma
- Certification/License: Valid Missouri driver’s license
- Experience: Two years of experience performing general maintenance tasks; basic theory of electricity; methods and practices of general maintenance tasks, following applicable codes and common safety practices of the maintenance trade
- Skills: General maintenance ability which includes semi-skills in the use of hand and power tools, mechanical equipment and materials applicable to the general maintenance trade
WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work Tuesday through Saturday 3:30 p.m.to midnight. with a half hour lunch. This position must be able to work in confined areas, tunnels, on roofs and on tall ladders or lifts (up to 60 feet). Conditions can be hot with high humidity, extremely cold and/or dry, loud and noisy. This position may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support University events or emergencies. This position is considered essential staff. Essential staff provide services that relate directly to the health, safety, and welfare of the University, ensure continuity of key operations, and maintain and protect University properties. Should the University close for any reason, essential staff will report to work as usual.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Vehicles, hand tools, portable drills, power saws, lifts, fork trucks, lock out/tag out process, etc.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The position must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and must have a full range of motions due to work environment and work conditions. This includes but is not limited to climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling and holding.
