GENERAL FUNCTION:

Under supervision of Director Physical Plant, uses knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems maintenance, and repair. Reads blueprints, performs skilled maintenance work and remodels College buildings and facilities systems, roofing, equipment, and fixtures. Employee will safely operate College vehicles and equipment, practice safe work processes and contributes to the creation and maintenance of a safe environment for self and others. Supervises other Maintenance Technicians, Grounds Techs, Shipping/Receiving, Maintenance/Recycling. Performs managerial tasks including work orders, records, quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Must be able to supervise and perform a variety of repair functions including, but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry, and willingness to pursue additional training.

· Coordinates daily maintenance needs for all campus facilities

· Estimates materials needed for work orders

· Excels as minimum 2 trades specialty, maintains records

· Ability to perform physical work including but not limited to: moving equipment and supplies, grounds maintenance and occasional lifting required.

· Must be willing to work evening and/or weekends if necessary

· Ability to communicate with all level of employees of College including the President

· The work involves walking and standing, stooping and kneeling, climbing (ascending or descending stairs, ladders, ramps, etc.), balancing (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching), handling (seizing, holding, grasping or turning) for prolong periods of time

· Must be physically able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and in excess of twenty to fifty pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

· Rotates on-call duties

· Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or GED

· Valid North Carolina Driver License, with good driving record

· At least 2 years working experience at Maintenance Technician level

· Three years of mechanical, carpentry, industrial, plumbing, plumbing, and equipment operator experience

- HVAC experience a plus but not required

- Preferred requirement working as Maintenance Tech 2 level experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.38 - $21.26 per hour
