Summary:
The Maintenance Purchaser will manage the procurement and purchasing related to maintenance, equipment, building and production. He/she works directly with the Maintenance Supervisor, the Parts Clerk, and the Maintenance Planner as well as updating and maintaining the work order system daily. This is a position that is responsible for obtaining materials and services for the planned/unplanned work orders. This position is also responsible for developing relationships with vendors, sourcing alternate suppliers, negotiating price quotations, developing metrics, and tracking costs.
Key Responsibilities:
· Work within CMMS work order system to manage maintenance work.
· Present monthly report to determine if goals and objectives are met (to include budget attainment, upcoming expenses, utility costs).
· Coordinate with supervisors on job priority and establish priority levels for the jobs that need to be completed and materials that will be needed to finish the jobs.
· Procurement of materials from suppliers.
· Take requests from maintenance personnel for materials needed to complete other jobs that may come up.
· Obtain quotes from vendors for maintenance materials and services.
· Work with accounting ensuring that purchase orders in the system are accurate.
· Track orders and costs associated with certain jobs.
· Build schedules for both short shutdowns and turnarounds working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Foreman, Production Supervisors, and Plant Manager (this includes all aspects of the outages).
· Maintain Maintenance Reliability database and perform necessary analysis to include equipment cost and equipment failures.
· Work with suppliers and various departments on cost-reduction strategies.
· Assist Parts Clerk and Maintenance Planner when needed.
· Generate Purchase Orders.
· Ship out Materials going out for repairs using UPS, FEDEX, or another freight company.
· Active participation in 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Kaizen activities.
Duties:
· Manage the planned/unplanned work order backlog by:
o Reviewing backlog and planning lists to verify parts are on hand or ordered.
o Clarifying incomplete or poorly defined order requests.
o Determining the appropriate priority for ordering and shipping.
o Assist Maintenance Leads in the timely execution of emergency or critical priority jobs.
o Assist with optimization of spare parts inventory.
o Build and maintain Bill of Materials (BoMs).
o Assist in the preparation and participate in both internal and external audits.

Job Qualifications:
· 1+ years’ experience working in a Purchasing role
· 1+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing environment
· A minimum of a high school diploma with preference for post-secondary education
· Strong Working Knowledge in CMMS systems (preference given to Emaint experience)
· Working Knowledge of Deacom preferred
· Strong Working Knowledge of Microsoft Projects and other computer/software programs
· Fluent in computer entry
· Bilingual, preferably Spanish/English preferred.
· Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and work experience in a food or pharmaceutical plant.
· Sanitation experience in a USDA plant.
· Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with vendors (in person, electronically, and via phone)
· Good computer skills. Experience in MIS, Word and Excel is a plus.
· High level of enthusiasm with ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
· Ability to work with little to no supervision
· Basic understanding of equipment, design, and of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic pneumatic and related parts and their functions.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
· Works is performed in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, sit, stand, walk, climb, crouch, lift, reach, grasp and bend while moving about the facility. Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
· Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
· Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds
· Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to raw meat, powder dust, spice, and seasonings.
· Capable of working above or belowground including on ladders, scaffolds, electric lifts, confine space and all other areas in or on company property
· The employee may be exposed to non-ambient temperatures, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment.
· The noise level is loud in the plant. Ear protection, eye/face protection, hair/beard nets, steel-toed/slip-resistant shoes, and gloves are required as necessary in accordance with company GMP and safety standards.
