We are hiring a full time Maintenance Operator I, II or III position, reporting to our Anthem, AZ or Chaparral (Fountain Hills, AZ) facility.
This individual will perform plant maintenance duties (plumbing, pipe fitting, valve repair/replacements, pump and motor repair/replacements, cooling equipment repair, custom fabrication, search and order needed parts) in Water and/or Wastewater plants, pumping stations, and other water facilities in the Eastern Division operations where required, including Anthem, Chaparral, Paradise Valley, Rio Verde, Tubac, and the Colorado River district.
What you’d be responsible for
- Participates in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all related plant process equipment including: pumps, motors, chlorinators, and chemical feed systems to ensure treated water meets County, State and EPA quality standards.
- Work as part of a team with other employees both in Maintenance and Operations.
- Receive job assignments through (CMMS) work orders and verbal instructions from Lead Operator, Foreman and Supervisor, and is expected to carryout projects through to completion.
- Perform maintenance duties including repairs/replacement, troubleshooting and improving water production and treatment facilities infrastructure.
- Position has the potential for exposure to dust, pollen, hazardous chemicals (Chlorine/Bleach, Sulfuric Acid, and Sodium Hydroxide), fumes, sewage matter and potable/unpotable water. Must be able to tolerate extreme heat.
What’s required to be successful
- Knowledge of all aspects of maintenance associated with water production and water/wastewater treatment operations.
- Knowledge of safety practices in the operation of mechanical and electrical equipment used in water and wastewater facilities.
- Strong trouble shooting knowledge, pipe fitting, plumbing, metal fabrication, valve maintenance, and pump and motor skills a plus.
- ADEQ Grade 1 Certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collections preferred. Additional higher level grade certifications are highly desirable.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Class A Arizona driver’s license (or able to get a class A within 1 year of hire) and a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of safety practices in the operation of electrical and mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater facilities. Understand field safety requirements for confined space, fall protection, LOTO, chemical safety, etc
