Maintenance Mechanic:
Our Maintenance Mechanic Technicians are responsible for general facility and equipment maintenance as assigned in a highly-automated food manufacturing environment and help to insure continuous, safe, effective and efficient performance of industrial equipment based on manufacturers’ instructions in order to meet daily operating plans in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
Plant maintenance mechanic technicians perform preventive and repair maintenance to meet operational requirements and any other duties as assigned by management.
Job Accountability:
- Installs, inspects, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs equipment to meet daily shift requirements and achieve safety, quality, value and cost (S,Q,V,C) results.
- Conveys shift information, knowledge and observations regarding process and/or equipment performance to maintenance and operation co-workers and supervisors
- Complies with all internal and external policies, procedures and regulations
- Good communication skills relating to employee interaction. Some Spanish preferred, not required
- Must be able to weld and use Oxygen Acetylene Torch
- Have working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic
- Must be able to operate tools or equipment common to the trade
- Knowledge to perform basic maintenance of production equipment (i.e. replace drive belts, conveyor belts, change bearings, and change electric motors)
- Knowledge of, HACCP, GMP’s, Organic Handling Procedures, Allergen Control Program, Food Plant Security, Glass control, Quality related policies, and Safety programs, and ability to help ensure plant operations are complying with those programs
Must have full set of own tools along with:
- Must have own welding PPE (helmet/gloves)
- Experience with 36VDC/ 48VDC and 120VAC to 480VAC electrical systems to include installation and troubleshooting
- Experience with stainless steel and mild steel fabrication/welding
- Experience with pneumatic systems
- Experience with hydraulic controlsystems
Education:
- HS or GED: (HS courses in math, mechanical drawing and/or shop)
- 2 years Technical or vocational training preferred
Experience:
- At least 4 years of automated industrial packaging and/or processing equipment related maintenance and repair
- English - reads, writes, listens to, comprehends and applies information, knowledge and/or work-related documents including blueprints, schematics and equipment manufacturer’s instructions
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal and to draw and interpret conclusions based on that information
- Strong reasoning skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Other: Welding certification a plus
Thorough knowledge of:
- Use and repair of motor controls, sensors, and gearboxes
- Electrical/mechanical troubleshooting
- Use and knowledge of electrical test equipment (multimeters, amp meters, etc.)
- Proper drilling and tapping techniques
- Proper pulley/sheave installation and alignment
- Basic principles of industrial maintenance
- Use and repair of mechanical & conveying systems
- Installation and repair techniques for all pneumatic and hydraulic systems (water, steam, air, and natural gas)
Working knowledge of:
- Industrial/machine safety and safeguarding techniques
- Basic industrial math applications, principles and reasoning to solve problems
- Possesses high degree of electrical/mechanical aptitude, logic and reasoning to determine root cause of operating errors, how to best remedy and repair machines or systems using appropriate tools
- Proficiency in care/use of onsite facility required PPE and all Safety procedures
- Demonstrates proficiency in stick, tig or mig welding
- Utilizes computerized maintenance systems & SW tools and complete work order log
Process & Equipment:
- Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment in assigned area
- Cleans, lubricates and adjusts parts and equipment
- Diagnoses and repairs electrical/mechanical faults in equipment
- Performs equipment installation support functions
- Inputs/retrieves maintenance work order in a computerized maintenance management system
- Performs change overs on equipment in assigned area
Compliance:
- Keeps work areas organized and sanitary according to set standards;
- Follows standard operating processes and procedures;
- Adheres to GMP’s, HACCP, OSHA and company policies and procedures;
- Responsible for own personal safety and safety of others in working area
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.50 - $38.00 per hour
