Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Maintenance Mechanic 2 at our Jamesville facility in New York.

Do you pride yourself in the ability to fix anything? Lehigh Hanson is seeking a Plant Maintenance Mechanic to take charge of the maintenance operations at this site. You will have the opportunity to tackle new challenges each and every day to keep the plant running smoothly and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical skills, be flexible on schedules and be results-oriented. You will be challenged having to repair and maintain quarry processing equipment. Primary responsibilities may include repairs to crushing, screening, conveying, and pumping equipment, also performing brazing, welding, arc-welding, and cutting task.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO

  • Inspect equipment for proper functional use and perform preventative maintenance duties per manufacture’s specifications.
  • Upgrade areas with new equipment/technology.
  • Maintain current written or data input spreadsheets on all equipment repairs.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and perform repair and maintenance of all plant equipment, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, shop machines, hoists, etc.
  • Install and replace bearings, speed reducers, shafts, pulleys, idlers, motors, couplings, etc.
  • Make major repairs to crushers, changing jaw dies, bearings, bushings, crusher mantles, etc.
  • Repair conveyor belts, feeders, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiently work with outside contractors on special projects.
  • Have a willingness to operate individually or within the constraints of a team environment.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (or formal technical training) mechanical troubleshooting and repair
  • 2+ years of diversified welding experience
  • Must have knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Must have knowledge of mechanical moving parts (chains, bearings and rollers)
  • Must be proficient at both ARC and MIG welding
  • Must be able to read and fabricate from drawings
  • Must be flexible to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet production requirements as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Work Availability - Be available to work six days a week (Monday-Saturday) and occasionally on Sunday.
  • Physical Requirements: sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, climbing, balancing, bending (bending at the waist, lifting above the waist and lifting below the waist), kneeling, reaching, grasping (use of both hands), squatting, repetitive motions, manipulative finger movements with both hands, use of wrists (flexing or rotating with both wrists), use of both feet, use of arms above and below shoulder, work extended periods of time in same position, perform duties in all climates i.e. weather, extreme temperatures, tolerate heights, lift and carry up to 75 lbs., work in confined spaces, capable of wearing respiratory and other personal protective equipment.
